We had a fantastic time with new friends, including a pinata that just would not die. It took a whole lots of kids and men to smash it open. it was fun to see everybody is dress up to celebrate a great person on her special day. Sarah and I made Emi's cupcakes and after the party a group of us girls went out to Blanche for some food and Mocktails. We love Emi and are so glad to have had the chance to meet and get to know her and her amazing family.
For Halloween Sarah and I decided to make some Carmel Apples... we went shopping together after the kids Halloween craft class (run by the talented Emi!) and went back to the Snow's to get cooking. We were nervous that they wouldn't work out but we were happy with the end result and they tasted delicious.
After picking up the big kids from school the Snows and Erana and Mick came over to our place to get dressed up for trunk or treating. I decorated the boot so we could meet up at the park with some of the members of our ward to give the local kids a safe place to celebrate Halloween. All the kids looked so cute in their costumes. Reeve loved getting made over to look like a zombie. India was a masked Vampire. Erana is amazing at what she does! She is my arts and craft hero and makes our home a happier place to be when she comes to visit.
One of India's new school friends is a girl named Cody. Every year Cody's family decorate their house and set up a haunted experience for the neighborhood kids to come and get spooked. Sarah and I walked the kids over to check it out before trunk or treating but it was not ready for the public just yet so we decided to do it on the way home later that night. The kids thoroughly enjoyed trunk or treating. Rifka's organization payed off for all the kids. They loved going from boot to boot and Reeve especially loved the camping tent set up with balloons filled with candy just waiting to be popped! It was nice to see them happy and sugar high.
Kent, under the pleadings of our dear daughter, decided to take our 2 kids to Cody's a little earlier while i stayed to finish up with the trunk or treating. i managed to meet up with them at Cody;s just in time to go through the haunting together as a family. It was amazing! The effort put into the set up was just astounding and I loved it. unfortunately it was a little too creepy for Reeve, who got so freaked out by the deranged screaming clown slinking out from under a table, that he cried for most of it and needed to be heavily consoled with cuddles and candy afterward. It safe to say i doubt he will want to check out next years efforts. All in all it's been a fun fortnight filled with fancy dress and friends. Life is good and so it the big bowl of lollies left over in my cupboard.
We also had the opportunity to have Noeline and Taha over for dinner and dessert tonight. It was so nice to get to know them a little better. We really enjoyed laughing with them tonight over simple conversation and food. We feel so blessed to be surrounded by so many good people here in Karratha.
The perfect ending was the safe arrival of our new baby girl cousin tonight at 6pm. Carmen gave birth to a beautiful, tiny, sweet girl and I cannot wait to get my hands on her... hopefully it wont be too long a wait. The kids are completely smitten and India has not stopped talking about baby since she found out. We love her so much already.
